If the network is already up and Running, just plug into an available port, get you IP address and SCRAG!

In the topology above, we assume one Ethernet Jack per room, hence the High Speed Switch in the Lap Top den. The DHCP is conveniently located within the router which only had dedicated TWO ports, one into the House Ethernet Jack, and the other into the Office PC.

In the example above, we have shown a couple of different Ethernet devices that can be used to connect a laptop to the LAN.
